Change was very positive and negative in some ways while my group and I tried to reach Golden Gulch. For example, things were positive when we had reached California after our long journey filled with hardships, which was good. Events that were negative to my group were that we crashed into rocks while we were using the Cape Horn Route and when our oxen dropped down dead of starvation while we used the overland route. Another example was when we went to town to gamble. My group and I thought of all the money worth of gold nuggets if we won the game and put down all our money. But unfortunately we lost the game, and lost all our gold nuggets. That was extremely negative for us. CHANGE IS NECESSARY FOR GROWTH: Every time all the eight groups came together for a camp meeting to talk about some things that were troubling the groups, the groups changed and become smarter and learned more about the things and resources around. That is a change that helped us grow.
CHANGE IS INEVITABLE: Change is inevitable when trouble constantly happens in Golden Gulch. For example, the place my group was mining at was running out of water, and we wanted to know why the water was not running. We noticed that there was a little dam. We also noticed that all the other groups had the same problems. Some people wanted to cross the bridge so badly that they exploded the dam. But it was wrong because there was a meeting saying that whatever happened was wrong. Everyone said that other miners wanted it down. Now that some of the groups destroyed the dam, the people that made the dam wanted to kill whoever did it. The lucky thing is they don’t know who it was. They accidentally shot the Mining Masters, who were innocent.
